Maria Alicia Moreno

April 20, 1940 — March 16, 2022

Maria Alicia Moreno, 81, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her daughter's residence in Houston. She was born on a Saturday, April 20, 1940 in San Lucas, Zacatecas, Mexico to Miguel Estrada and Maria De Jesus Rangel Estrada. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Pedro Moreno, sister; Imelda Badillo and brother; Ramiro Estrada.
She is survived by her loving children; Muchan (Arthur) Canales, Dennis Peter Moreno, Maria "Marie" Moreno and Saida Moreno-Rhodes, sister; Ernestina Kaplan, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a faithful servant who was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked for Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for 12 years at Edinburg High School. She enjoyed sewing, planting, playing bingo and living at the ranch attending to her cows and chickens. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and all those whose lives she touched.
The Moreno family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 West Fay Street in Ednburg. Catholic burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4607 North Sugar Road in Pharr. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Adrian Moreno, Aron Lopez, Dennis Moreno, Arthur Canales, Rashon Linson and Ryan Canales. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. In lieu of Flowers, family request for donations to be made in memory of: Maria Alicia Moreno to: Second Baptist Church, Attn: BIZ office, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas. Also, please include the name and mailing address of anyone you would like to be notified of your gift.
