Lydia Soliz Salazar, 88, went to be with the Lordon Monday, November 1, 2021 at her residence in Edinburg. She was born on a Thursday, August 10, 1933 in Refugio, Texas to Leonardo Soliz and Maria Rodriguez Soliz. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years; Pedro C. Salazar, daughter; Emma (Marc) Salazar Nesbitt, Grandchildren; Dylan, Dustin, Landon & Maria Nesbitt all of Graham, Texas. As well as numerous nephews, nieces and Godchildren.
Lydia lived in Killeen, Texas for over 20 years before moving back to Edinburg in 1993. Lydia attended Pan American University where she earned a teaching degree and began to teach at Citriana Elementary in Mission. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years and enjoyed traveling, flea markets, walking but most especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. The Salazar family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation of care to Opus Care of Texas.
Lydia’s family received friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a rosary prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held today, Monday, November 8, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Marc Nesbitt, Dustin Nesbitt, Landon Nesbitt, Dylan Nesbit, Maria Nesbitt, Robert Alonzo and Jaime Alonzo.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
