Clemente Alonzo, Jr, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on a Sunday, June 22, 1941 in Edinburg, Texas to Clemente Alonzo, Sr. and Gregoria Barrios Alonzo. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Luis Alcala, daughter-in-law; Dr. Norma Iris Alonzo, sister; Helen Perez, and sisters-in-laws; Teresa Alcalá and Nicolasa Alonzo.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Dora Cantu Alonzo, sons; Roland Alonzo, Robert (Mary) Alonzo and Ernesto (Brenda) Alonzo, daughter; Nelda (Roque Becerra) Alonzo, grandchildren; Mark Anthony (Audrey Rubio) Beltran, Janelle Aissa (Justin Garcia) Beltran, Dr. Roland Matthew (Dr. Kaylee) Alonzo, Phillip Michael Alonzo, Nichole Josephine Alonzo, Robert Michael Alonzo, Natalia Catalina Alonzo and Joaquin Santiago Alonzo, great-grandchildren; Kayliee Anahiz Quiroz, X’avier Elijah Garcia and Anna Norma Alonzo, siblings; Emilio Alonzo, Mary (Gabriel) Lopez, Viola (Efrain) Alvarez, Domingo (Lilia) Alonzo and Jose (Rosie) Alonzo.
Clemente proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a hardworking and humble man who worked for 35 years with the General Telephone Company. Clemente enjoyed horseback riding, western movies, bar-b-ques but most importantly spending time with his family.
His family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street, Edinburg, Texas. Burial will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas. Military honors will be under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #7473. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Phillip Michael Alonzo, Mark Anthony Beltran, Robert Michael Alonzo, Joaquin Santiago Alonzo, Janelle Beltran, Nichole Josephine Alonzo and Natalia Catalina Alonzo. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. In lieu of flowers, family requests for donations to be made in memory of: Clemente Alonzo, Jr. to: American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org/involved/donate
