Antonio Ortega, Jr., 81, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his residence in Edinburg. He was born on Sunday, August 9, 1936 in Edinburg, Texas to Antonio Ortega, Sr. and Luz Martinez Ortega. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Beatriz Flores Ortega, son-in-law; Ramiro Ramirez, brothers; Severo, Regino, Gregorio Ortega, and sisters; Luz and Adelfina Ortega.
Left to cherish his memories are his children; Ruben (Cristina) Ortega, Olga Ortega Ramirez, and Adan (Lupita) Ortega, sister; Lydia "Nena" Reyna, 8 - grandchildren, 4 - great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Antonio lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for 30 years until his retirement as a air condition technician and custodian at North Junior High School. He was a very humble and hard working man who instilled to his children and grandchildren the importance of discipline, being responsible, respectful, and obedient. He enjoyed watching football and Monday Night RAW, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
The Ortega and Ramirez will receive friends today, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1702 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pall bearers will be: Ruben Ortega, Jr., Abram Ortega, Adam Ortega, Orly Gonzalez, Arnold Marez and Romeo "Romi" Ramirez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
