Velma Darlene Sanchez, 77, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. She was born on May 7, 1934 in Ellsworth, Illinois to Fred Brown and Bessie McQwharter Brown. Darlene had lived in Edinburg for 33 years and was a Certified Nurses Aide for 15 years and a Licensed Vocational Nurse for over 10 years. She loved traveling and going to Las Vegas. She loved to watch game shows, fishing, going to the beach, but most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sons; James Huntley and David J. Sanchez, Jr., daughter; Cindy Huntley, brother; Eugene Brown, Father-in-law; Emilio J. Sanchez, and her first husband; Jack Huntley.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 23 years; David J. Sanchez, Sr., son; Jack (Rochelle) Huntley, daughters; Tina (Bob) Lewis, Cathy (Kieth) Moravitz and Sharon (Dan) Leidal, brother; Richard Brown, Mother-in-law; Maria R. Sanchez, 5- grandchildren, 6 – great grandsons, and her 2 dogs; Lady and Ginger.

The family received friends Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a service of remembrance at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 E. Kuhn in Edinburg. Family will depart at 8:30 a.m. for a graveside service at 9:00 a.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
