Salvador Sanchez Diaz, of Edinburg, Texas, died on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the age of 86. He was the son of Antonio Diaz and Josefa Sanchez Diaz, who preceded him. He is also preceded by his siblings; Jesus S. Diaz and Isabel Diaz Torres.
He married Minerva Ozuna Diaz on Saturday, February 11, 1956 and they had three children.
Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of 60 years; Minerva O. Diaz, children; David A. (Judy) Diaz, Rene R. (Arlene) Diaz and Elisa I. Diaz, grandchildren; Jacob, Alissa and Abigail Diaz. He is further survived by his sister; Elena Diaz Ramos and his siblings-in-law; Santos Roel (Tammie) Ozuna, Criselda Ozuna, Victoria O. Gadd and Viola O. (Dennis) Mathis; numerous nieces and nephews.
After their children were grown, he and his wife, Minerva traveled all over the United States visiting the National Parks, while he did all the driving.
During the Korean War, he was stationed in Germany and upon his return home, he entered Pan American College under the G.I. Bill and later got his degree in accounting. Mr. Diaz worked for 30 years at Tide Products and later retiring from Wilbur-Ellis on his 65th birthday.
His family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 119 West Fay Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3605 North Taylor Road in McAllen. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
