Rosalinda Garza- Celebration of Life
Rosalinda was born to Teodoro R. Garza and Corina S. Garza on July 15th, 1964. She departed this earthly life on
Thursday, April 4th, 2024.
Rosie excelled at any and all endeavors she put her mind to, be it, working at the ranch, elementary, high school,
college, or nursing school. Growing up as a child, Rosie loved helping her dad on the ranch, especially driving the
combines. She was her high school Student Council President and the first child from her family to attend college.
She attended Texas A&M University and transferred to the University of Texas where she completed her nursing
degree. This took her to multiple Houston area hospitals including- St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital,
and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and concluded her nursing career in the Rio Grande Valley. She worked in ICU
and Cardiac Units, where she specialized in some of the most intense and severe life-threatening injuries that any
patient can experience. This was the area where Rosie learned the importance of helping those in need. Rosie was
always willing to help her friends, family, and neighbors needing assistance, especially the elderly. Those who knew
or met Rosie often praised her as a “Godsend.”
She was also a well known writer and poet. She had several of her poems published nation wide. Her passion for
poetry took her all the way to Washington D.C. where she received several awards for her writing. She was a devoted
sister and especially a devoted daughter. She spent almost every weekend with her mom attending church at Destiny
Through Christ (DTC). Rosie enjoyed her time and involvement with DTC Church so very much! It was such an
important part of her life and faith. The friendships she developed and maintained via her faith were truly gifts from
God.
These last few years allowed Rosie to pursue another passion of hers - being a political advocate. She was actively
involved in several state and local elections, either by supporting a particular campaign or fighting for voting rights for
the elderly.
Rosie’s many passions, including her faith, allowed her to shine and touch so many lives! The impacts she made will
not be forgotten. Rosie is survived by her parents Teodoro and Corina and siblings Romey Garza (Irene), Mary Ann
Herrera (Jaime), Belinda Garza de Meza (Abraham), Jaime Garza (Letty), & Jualino Garza (Yumy).
The Garza Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2024 for a Memorial Service from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a prayer service to be held at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas.
