Rodolfo "Rudy" Vera

Rodolfo "Rudy" Vera, 77, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. He was born on June 25, 1937 in Edinburg, Texas to Roman Vera and Ramona Salinas Vera. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Daniel (Consuelo) Vera, Benito Vera, Carlos Vera, and brother-in-law, Irineo Aguilar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Hilda C. Vera; son, Omar C. (Isabel Pena) Vera; brothers, Antonio (Josefa) Vera, Roman (Edna) Vera, Jr. and Julian (Rosie) Vera; sisters, Elida Aguilar and Carolina (Encarnacion) Castilleja; sisters-in-law, Viola Vera, Rosie Vera, and Guadalupe Vera and grandson, Mathew Luke Vera.

Rudy, as he was affectionately known, lived in Edinburg all his life. He was the Manager at Vera King O Meat Market for many years. He loved to build birdhouses and do woodwork. He also enjoyed making bar-b-que pits.  He enjoyed the outdoors, doing yardwork, and spending time with all his dogs. He loved to listen to music, his favorite song was "El Cobarde" from el cantante, Pedro Infante. He will be remembered for his humbleness and simple nature, and for being an Exemplary father, husband and family man. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and all those whose lives he touched.

The Vera family will received friends today, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Christian Burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Omar C. Vera, Eddie Aguilar, David Aguilar, Javier Castilleja, Ramon Vera, Marco Vera, Ricky Vera, and Rogelio Vera. Honorary pallbearer will be his grandson Matthew Luke Vera. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
