Rafaela Cortez, 89, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Briarcliff Nursing Center in McAllen. She was born April 17, 1921 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Joaquin Hernandez and Maria Rosales.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Israel Cortez, parents, and brother; Simon Andres Hernandez.
She is survived by her brothers; Joaquin Aurelio Hernandez, Marcos (Maria Elena) Hernandez, sisters Otila (Alejandro) Arevalo, Ramona H. Martinez and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation for Rafaela will be held today, November 10, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Christian mass will be on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
