Petra “Petrita” Gracia, 93, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. She was born on April 18, 1921 in Los Herreras, Mexico to Alejandro Garza and Margarita Leal Garza. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moises Gracia; brothers, Teofilo (Adela) Garza, Andres (Julia) Garza, Felipe Garza, and Elpidio Garza; sisters, Santos (Hilario) Garza and Flora (Telesforo) Martinez; and sister-in-law, Eloisa Garza.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Cesar (Adelina) Gracia; daughters, Emma (Santiago) Luna, Laura (David) Tellez and Sandra (Casimiro, Jr.) Salinas, 9 – grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Petrita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who touched many lives. She loved to cook for her family and friends, she would never let anyone leave her home without eating something. She also enjoyed gardening, but her greatest joy was spending her time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family, but her legacy will live on in their hearts…

Her family received friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held today, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
