Pedro “Peter” Rangel, 80, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. He was born on a Saturday, June 3, 1944 to Antonio Rangel and Nicolasa Serna Rangel in Morillos, Dolores, Hildalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Antonio Rangel, Jr. and Agustin Rangel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years; Bertha Garza Rangel, two loving sons; Gerardo Rangel and Bernardo (Catherine) Rangel, grandchildren; Crsytal Rangel, Deborah Rangel and Boston Rangel, great grandchild; Malakhi Rangel, brothers; Deacon Raul Rangel, Paul Rangel, Leo Rangel, Martin Rangel and Jose Luis Rangel and sisters; Benita Garcia, Maria Isabel Rivera, Carmen Zapata, Minnie Rangel, Anita Rangel, Yolanda Rangel and Ana Maria Rangel-Jimenez as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pedro or “Peter” as he was affectionately known, worked for the Tide Products for many years as well as worked for the Hidalgo County Maintenance Department for 30 years. He enjoyed walking his dogs, exercising and loving the outdoors tending to his garden. He loved watching sports especially football games and the Astros. He was a faithful servant and served as a Eucharist Minister and attended ACTS retreats with the Catholic Church, however his favorite past time was spending time with his lovely wife and his family as well as his extended family. Pedro will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
The Rangel family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 8:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 West Fay in Edinburg. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Bernardo Rangel, Gerardo Rangel, Boston Rangel, Leo Rangel, Joe Rangel and Malakhi Rangel. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
