Obituary

Maricela V. Carmona, 74, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on a Thursday, November 15, 1951 to Octavio Villarreal and Carolina Garza-Villarreal. She is preceded in death by her parents, son; Robert Alex Flores, brothers; Samuel Villarreal, Arnoldo Villarreal, Robert Villarreal, Octavio Villarreal, Jr. and Omar Villarreal and sister; Anna V. Canales.

She is survived by her loving children; Juan “Johnny” Carmona, Jr., and Norma Ibarra, sisters; Dalinda “Dolly" Abrego and Carrie Trevino, 7 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Maricela was a licensed vocational nurse for 43 years who enjoyed helping others. She enjoyed watching Mass on TV when she was not able to attend. She also enjoyed watching horror movies. Maricela loved her family and especially her grandchildren and being able to spend time with them. She will be missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.

The Carmona family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 12:30 PM at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
