Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” Trevino, 75, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Lupita was born in Edinburg, Texas on a Wednesday, November 1, 1950 to Manuel Guzman and Emilia Zuniga Guzman. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Miguel “Mike” Manuel Trevino and brother; Manuel Guzman, Jr.
She is survived by her children; Omar Gonzalez, Nancy Gonzalez, Melissa (Daniel, Jr.) Casanova, stepson; Michael (Linda) Trevino, grandchildren; Hope Danielle Casanova, Ocean Rose Casanova, Mercy Rayne Casanova and Daniel Casanova, III., siblings; Javier (Gloria) Guzman, Sr., Jose Eliazar (Hortencia) Guzman, Irene Guzman and Oralia (Teodoro) Villarreal as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews..
Lupita is a 1970 graduate from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Texas. She worked at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for over 40 years. Lupita enjoyed crafting, quilting, needle point and baking but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her children, family and all those whose lives she touched,
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Burial to follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are: Omar Gonzalez, Daniel Casanova, Jr., Daniel Casanova, III, Michael Trevino, Javier Guzman, Jr. and Jaime Guzman. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
