Maria Elena Rios

Maria Elena Rios, 78, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2024 at her residence in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on a Wednesday, August 22, 1945 in San Carlos, Texas to Eraclio Flores and Luz Acoste Flores. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Arnulfo Anival Rios, brother; Mario Flores, Rogelio Garza, Ramiro Garza and Jose Duval Flores, sister; Elizabeth Handy.
Maria is survived by her loving children; Jose Duval (Eva) Rios, Candelaria “Candy” (Roland) Munguia, Consuelo “Connie” (Jason) Rios-Tankersley and Arnulfo Anival “Arnold” (Nelda) Rios, siblings; Raymond (Rosie) Garza, Ralph (Yolanda) Garza, Rolando (Gloria) Garza, Emily G. (Joel) Gutierrez, Lupita (Eddie) Acosta, Josefina (Beto) Hinojosa, Roberto “Bobby” (Margaret) Garza and Ricky (Mary) Garza, brother in law; David Handy, 14 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful mother who would always remember special occasions, helping others and loving her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, praying the rosary, traveling and taking vacations, gardening with lilies being her favorite flowers. She was kind and gentle to loving dogs, Lobito and Trixie. Maria will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
The Rios family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:00 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 8310 Highland Avenue, Edinburg, Texas with a burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director and Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
