Maria Dolores “Dolly” Markle, 59, after a short courageous battle with liver cancer, beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin and cherished friend; peacefully received her angel wings surrounded by her loving family and friends in Edinburg on Monday, January 18, 2016.
Dolly was born in Edinburg on Monday, March 5, 1956 to Mrs. Trinidad Hernandez.
She attended Edinburg schools and graduated from Pan American University with a degree in Education. She taught Early Childhood devotedly for 35 years until her retirement in 2009. In 2008, she had the honor to be named “District Teacher of the Year” for Donna I.S.D. She and her family have owned and operated New and Again Antique Mall since 2003 in McAllen.
Dolly was preceded in death by her beloved mother; Trinidad H. Pena, special aunt and uncle; Inez and Bernardino Pena and an infant brother; Leopoldo Pena, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 28 years; David A. Markle, Jr., son; David A. Markle, III, sisters; Maria A. Pena and Diana Garza, many cousins and loving friends.
Her family will receive family and friends today, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Entombment will follow to Roselawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, 1201 South Main Street in McAllen. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Joe Garza, John Champion, Alex Navarro, Gilbert Gracia, Joe Martinez, Leo Alvarado, Armando Garza and Ruben Medina. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Reyes, Clifford Swint, Jesse Diaz, J.R. Garza and Tom Kepper. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
