Maria Estela Guerra, 92 entered eternal rest on Friday, September 13, 2013 in Edinburg. She was born on June 27, 1921 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Cosimo Dimas and Luz Gomez Dimas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francisco L. Guerra; sons, Gilbert and Albert Guerra; son-in-law, Lenny Salinas; brothers, Juan, Wilson, Noe Erasmo and Dominico Dimas, Ramon Saenz; sisters, Eloisa D. Garza, Francisca Salinas and Emma Jean Salinas.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Rogelio (Carol) Guerra, David (Ofelia) Guerra, Lydia (Frank) Garcia, Elva Garcia and Estela G. Salinas; brothers, Bruno and Casimiro Dimas, 32 – grandchildren, 70 – great – grandchildren and 21 – great – great – grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Estela was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. She left a family legacy of beautiful hand-sewn quilts which she gifted to her grandchildren on their graduation and other special occasions. Estela was a proud grandmother, she was very much loved and served as the matriarch of the family. She will truly be missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy will continue through the eyes and hearts of her family.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ruben, Carlos and Frank Guerra, Emiliano, Jorge Luis and Richard Garcia, Lenny T. Salinas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
