Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez

Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez, 89, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on a Saturday, May 27, 1933 in El Rancho Terrero, Guerrero, Guanajuanto, Mexico to Felix Lara and Santos Canelo Lara. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Francisco Gonzalez, Sr., son; Francisco Gonzalez, Jr.and sister; Maria Concepcion Lara.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; Juan Manuel (Abelina) Gonzalez, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Juan Jose Gonzalez, Martin Gonzalez, Pedro Gonzalez, Rachel (Ron) Hill, Rosa L. (Armando Sr.) Gomez, 13 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria lived in Edinburg most of her life and was the owner and operator of a Tortilleria in Edinburg. She enjoyed eating and spending time with her family. She loved plants, gardening and was known for her “green thumb.” She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Chapel Service will celebrated on Monday, January 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM also in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Pedro Gonzalez, Juan Manuel Gonzalez, Juan Jose Gonzalez, Martin Gonzalez, Armando Gomez, Jr and Felix Flores. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
