Francisca "Frances" Armijo

Maria Francisca “Frances” Armijo, 85, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2025 at her home.. She was born on a Tuesday, June 4, 1940 in Edinburg, Texas to Anastacio Armijo, Sr. and Eulalia Salazar Armijo. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother; Anastacio Armijo, Jr., sister; Maria De La Luz Armijo and brother in law; Gary Larson.

She is survived by her loving sisters; Margaret (Robert) Lopez, Bertha Larson, Maria De Jesus Armijo and Mary (Joe) Martinez, sister in law; Estela Armijo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances worked at Texas Rural Legal Aid as their 1st secretary and continued working in that position for the next 45 years. She loved to read, crochet and collect jewelry. Watching novelas, shopping and eating at La Plaza Mall were a few of her pleasurable pastimes but her favorite was spending time with her family.

The Armijo Family is so grateful for the exceptional care and support that was given Francis. They would personally like to thank Amara Hospice. Alexa Deblas, CNA, Victor Valdez and Greg Chapa, Nurses and Veronica Hinojosa, Director of Nursing at Amara Hospice as well as a very special thank you to our niece; Athena Armijo-Mora , who was with Frances at her bedside who gave her comfort, love, unwavering dedication and compassion. We will forever be grateful for the peace and comfort you showed her during this time.

The Armijo Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Memorial Mass to be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion in Edinburg with an Interment of Ashes at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Jesse Ruiz, John Perez and Aron Armijo. Honorary pallbearer will be Aron Anthony Armijo. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director / Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg
