Joseph Richard Wilson, 66, entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at South Texas Health System-Edinburg. He was born on a Thursday, April 21, 1960 in Edinburg, Texas to James Robert Wilson and Irma Marmolejo Wilson. He is preceded in death by his father, a retired Justice of the Peace. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years; Olga Garcia Wilson, daughters; Judith Renee Wilson and Jacklyn Rose Wilson, son; James Richard (Amelia Schoch) Wilson, mother; Irma Marmolejo Wilson and brother; Robert Charles (Yvette De La Rosa) Wilson.

“Joe or Rick” as he was affectionately known was a 1979 Edinburg High School graduate and he had so much love for his fellow Bobcat classmates or “brother and sisters” as he affectionately called them. He had a love for hunting, fishing, bar b quing and of course his cats. He was a brother with the Knights of Columbus – Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Joe worked as a CNA at Edinburg General Hospital as well Tropical Texas Behavioral Health in Edinburg, Texas.

The Wilson Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass to be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Services for Joseph will conclude after the funeral mass. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Willie McAllen, Rolando Garcia, James Richard Wilson, Homer Garcia, Joaquin Cantu and Bobby Wilson. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director / Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
