Jaime “Swamp” Matta, 41, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born on Monday, March 10, 1975 in San Antonio, Texas to Juan Matta and Yolanda Huizar Matta. Jaime is survived by his parents, wife; Maria D. Gonzalez, mother of his daughters; Carolina Campos, daughters; Kazmir-Dae Campos and Kamryn Jade Matta, son; Daniel (Cristina) Rios, sister; Cindy (Roberto) Matta-Segovia, brother; Juan Gabriel (Evette) Matta, grandchildren; Nathaniel and Bella Rios, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Jaime graduated from Edinburg North High School in 1993. He was a hardworking man who loved carpentry and owned Matta’s Cabinet Shop for several years. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, dove hunting, fishing and bar-b-quing, but his greatest joy was spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. We will always remember his great big smile! His family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Juan Gabriel Matta, Bryan Matta, Jeffrey Meredith, Milton Rodriguez, Daniel Rios, Joe Daniel Ramirez, Jesse Aceves, Carlos Mercado, Mike Davila and Carlos Tamez. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife: Mary D. Gonzalez, 502 Thornwood Drive, Mission, Texas 78574. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
