Hortencia “Tencha” G. Segovia, 93, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Windsor Arbor View in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on a Sunday, January 20, 1929 to Guadalupe Gonzales and Anita Vela. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Manuel Abelardo Segovia, Sr, son; Manuel Segovia, Jr., daughter; Myrna E. Gonzalez, brother; Guadalupe “Lupito” T. Gonzales and sister; Lydia Thompson.
She is survived by her son; Dr. Cesar Segovia, sisters; Oralia G. Araguz, Yolanda Brittsan and Ana Barrera, 7 grandchildren; Claudia E. Gonzalez, Carina R. Gonzalez, Alfredo Lorenzo Gonzalez, Laura Segovia, Clarissa “Clegg” Segovia-Smith, Mario Segovia and George Segovia, numerous great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hortencia or “Tencha” as she was affectionately known lived in Edinburg most of her and was a member of the Guadalupanas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. For many years she owned and operated M & S Welding with her husband as well as working for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District as an account for 10 years. Tencha loved shopping and getting to every appointment made to get her hair done. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive family and friends on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3605 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Alfredo Gonzalez, Alfredo L. Gonzalez, Mario Segovia, Keemo Saldana and Adin Orta Gonzalez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral director and Staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
