Hermelinda “Mere” H. Miranda, 90, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. She was born April 13, 1921 in Bastrop, Texas to Rodolfo Hinojosa and Pilar Caballero Hinojosa.
Hermelinda is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Francisco Miranda, son; Jesus Miranda, daughter; Amalia Hurtado, brothers; Ernesto “Neto” Hinojosa, Gregorio “Gollo” Hinojosa, Nicolas “Nico” Hinojosa, Hesmeregildo “Gil” Hinojosa, and son-in-law; Francisco “Kiko” Hurtado.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Velentin “Tino” and Jose “Pepe” (Rosa) Miranda, daughters; Rosa (George) Chavez, Gloria (Isaias) Gonzalez, Maria de la Luz (Hector) Rodriguez, Irma Aleman, Delia (Eliseo) Rodriguez, 37- grandchildren, 87- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hermelinda contributed as a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved her cats, birds, plants and puzzles, but her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was the foundation to her family. She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed by all of her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
The Miranda Family received friends Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian services were held Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial followed to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the honor to serve as pallbearers were Husvaldo Gonzalez, Hector Rodriguez, Antonio Guajardo, George Chavez, Carlos Aleman and Francisco Hurtado. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
