Gregoria Fidencia “Nani” Salazar, 94, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at her residence in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on a Wednesday, May 9, 1928 in Cipres, Texas to Juan Lopez and Rosa Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Jose Angel Salazar, Sr, son; Jose Armando Salazar, daughter; Norma Linda Trevino, brothers; Domingo Lopez, Pedro Lopez, Santos Lopez, sisters; Lala Navarro, Julia Garcia, Cecilia Vecchio, Horacio Lopez and Maria Luisa Mosqueda.
Fidencia is survived by her children; Velma N. Salazar, Fr. Jose Angel Salazar (Priest of the Diocese of Corpus Christi), Javier (Norma Linda) Salazar and Victor (Estela) Salazar, son in law; Chris Trevino, 10 grandchildren, 27 great, grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Fidencia or “Nani” as she was affectionately known by her family was a loving, devoted and faithful woman. She was a deep woman of faith in the risen Christ and with the power of the sacraments. She also loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary daily. She was always cooking for the Fathers of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member her entire life. As well as becoming a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Nani was compassionate, always showing love and concern for her brothers and sisters. Living by example, Nani was a caregiver that came naturally. She will be remembered for being a caring woman who often loved to cook for family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she deeply touched.
The Salazar Family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn in Edinburg. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
