George Wells, 86, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Kindred Hospice in San Antonio. He was born on Saturday, October 03, 1931 in Pharr, Texas to Richard Wells and Petra Serna Wells. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Delia Owens, Agripina Rosales, Delaney Wells and Beatrice Wells.
George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; Sylvia Ochoa Wells, sons; Franklin George (Oralia) Wells, Mark (Melissa) Wells and Eric S. Wells, daughters; Margie L. (Jose) Garcia and Sylvia D'Ette (David) Gonzalez, brothers; Robert Wells, William "Billy" Wells and Columbus Wells, sisters; Mable Garcia, Mary Alice Aragon, Virginia Leisman, Ernestina Carballa and Elia Zapata, 9 - grandchildren, 2 - great grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews.
George proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was an educator for over 39 years working with the Edcouch Elsa I.S.D., Monte Alto I.S.D. and Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. He enjoyed watching western movies, boxing, fishing and hunting, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
His family received friends on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated today, Saturday, September 01, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial with Military Honors under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 7473 of Elsa, Texas will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be his grandchildren; Jason George Garcia, Joseph Brice Garcia, Aysha Dominique Garcia, Frances Celeste Wells, Thomas Franklin Wells, Andrew Franklin Wells, Alex Edward Gonzalez, Victoria Louise Gonzalez and Michael George Wells. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
