Carmen Huerta, 89, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. Carmen was born on a Friday, January 19, 1934 in Cedral, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Jose Carlos Gutierrez and Petra Pacheco Gutierrez. She is preceded in death by her parents and son Martin Benito Huerta.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 60 years; Benito Jesus Huerta, son; Hugo Huerta, daughter; Lisa Huerta and granddaughter; Camila “Cami” Villarreal.
Carmen was a member of Capilla San Jose in La Hielera. She was a humble women known for her sewing, stitching and love for baking pastries and cookies with her favorite being tres leches cake. Carmen collected ceramics, was a PTA member for her children and a long time Dallas Cowboys fan. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
The Huerta family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn, Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
