Betty Ann Vela, 86 entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg, Texas. She was born in Edinburg, Texas on a Friday, August 20, 1937 to Herman Walter Kramer and Ella Mae Guffey-Kramer. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Rodolfo Ernesto Vela and sisters Mary Joyce Thompson and Esther “Mickey” Laura Williams.
She is survived by her loving children; Linda Bissett, Ramon Walter (Debbie) Vela, Becky Vela, Lisa Vela Swanson, Rudy Wauquin (John Eagan) Vela and Richard W. (Dusty) Vela, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is well known for her love of rodeos and the outdoors, being a rodeo secretary for many years as well as opening Rodeos all across the USA for over 28 years. She eventually entered the education field where she taught for 25 yers for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. After retirement Betty enjoyed shopping but especially loved spending time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and always spending time with her family. It brings comfort to those she loved that she is now reunited with her husband, Rodolfo Ernesto Vela.
The Vela family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2023 for a viewing from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Chapel service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Peace with the burial to follow at Laguna Seca Ranch Cemetery, Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
