Apolonia Briseno, 97 entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at South Texas Health Systems in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on a Tuesday, April 10, 1934 in Donna, Texas to Martin Nino and Nicanora De La Rosa Nino. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 56 years; Zaragoza Briseno, brother; Reyes (Arcadia) Nino and brother in law; Reynaldo Espiriqueta.
She is survived by her loving children; Sarah Ann Briseno, Susan Marie (Alejandro) Rodriguez, Simona Martha (Pablo) Alonzo, Zaragoza Briseno, Jr., John Cornelius Briseno and Sandra Jane (Rumando) Briseno-Rosas, siblings; Maria Espiriqueta, Roberto (Andree) Nino, Elodia (Tereso) Rocha and Rosalinda (Rolando) Sauceda, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Apolonia was a woman of great faith and felt everything had a special significance. This is how she raised her children as well, teaching them her ways in love and in faith. She had a love for her entire family and especially enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched along the way in her journey of life.
The Briseno Family will welcome friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 306 South Salinas Blvd, Donna, Texas with a burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 6705 North FM 88, Weslaco, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Zaragoza Briseno, Jr., John Cornelius Briseno, Jericho Tyler Rosas, Christopher Lee Briseno Montiel, Pablo Alonzo and Rumaldo Rosas, III. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
