Amalia Martinez, 82, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Amalia was born on a Monday, August 18, 1941 in Encino, Texas to Transito Anzualda and Julia Rodriguez Anzualda. She is preceded by her parents, her husband; Esteban Martinez, Sr., brother; Transito Anzualda, sisters; Lucy Solis, Lupita Zucha, Conrada Lopez and Anita Manetas, granddaughter; Lorena Perez and great-grandson; AJ Briseno.
Amalia is survived by her loving children; Esteban (Loela) Martinez, Jr., Jos Luis (Enith) Martinez, Letty (Erasmo) Flores, Diana (Antonio Mendoza) Martinez and Sandra Jane (Erik) Perez, sisters; Adalia Phinney and Alicia Cantu, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is a longtime resident of Edinburg and attended UCAS cosmetology school in her younger years. Later in life she enjoyed and loved playing bingo and slot machines. But her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
The Martinez Family will receive friends and family on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion in Edinburg. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
