Pedro G. Martinez, 90, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born on Thursday, October 29, 1927 in Hearne, Texas to Socorro Martinez and Concepcion Garcia Martinez. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Consuelo R. Martinez and brother; Jose Antonio Martinez.
Left to cherish his life are his children; Pedro Juan Martinez, daughters; Rosario Martinez and Mary Ann (Marcelino, Jr.) Carrizales, brothers; Faustino Martinez, Sr. and Carmelo Garcia, grandchildren; Rosemary Martinez, Ray Martinez, Fernando Martinez, Alex Martinez, Marcelino T. Carrizales, Sarah Gonzales, Julian Gonzales, Jose Moreno and Eliana Carrizales, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years where he was involved as a Eucharist Minister, Altar server, prayed many Rosaries for so many families, and helped every year with the Sacred Heart Kermess. Pedro worked for the University of Texas Pan American for over 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and bar-b-quing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a faithful servant of God who touched many lives and will always be remembered. The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to Nolan and Glenda Vassar for their help during their father's illness.
His family will receive friends today, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Pedro Juan Martinez, Fernando Martinez, Alex Martinez, Julian Gonzalez, Jose Moreno and Marcelino T. Carrizales. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
