Lydia V. Alaniz

Lydia V. Alaniz, 88, entered eternal rest on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on Saturday, March 23, 1929 in South Bend, Texas to Basilio Villanueva and Porfiria Reyes Villanueva. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years; Rogelio Alaniz, brothers; Joel Villanueva, Basilio Villanueva, Jr., and Ruben Villanueva, and brother-in-law; Emilio Ramos.
Lydia is survived by her five loving children; Norma (James) Parsons, Roy (Kathy) Alaniz, David Alaniz, Daniel (Sylvia) Alaniz, and Abel (Paula) Alaniz, brothers; Francisco "Pancho" Villanueva and Dr, Raymond Villanueva, sister; Sara Ramos, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She lived in Edinburg all of her life and was a member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a loving and wonderful wife, friend, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue through her family. She loved cooking, gardening, and sewing. She also enjoyed all of her animals, but her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren. She worked as a provider for many years.
Her family will receive friends today, Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Celebration of her life at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: David Alaniz, Franko Flores, Roy Alaniz, Daniel Alaniz, Abel Alaniz and Nico Alaniz. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
